One of my great long time friends, Jason, requested this cake for an AIDS benefit dinner. Jason is highly active in the community and giving back is one of his favorite things to do. So when he called asking for a cake to compliment a dinner party for Festival for Life 2009, I couldn't refuse. This year's image is attached below. I based the cake on the image and the dinner party theme. The fork and knife wrapped in the napkin on top are fondant. A perfect topper to a dinner party cake!
Thanks for all you do Jason!
This cake was for Kevin's Granddad's 90th birthday this past Valentine's Day. I did a simple two tier cake with drapped fondant with a hand painted 1919 Model T scene on top.
We hope this was a special birthday for Granddad!
A house divided is the norm in our closely knit extended family. With half devoted Tech fans and half die hard Georgia fans, it make for an interesting football season! So when my Mother in Law, Sister in Law and I decided to be a little sneaky, this division made for a great surprise!
Wes, my brother in law and Pop (Glenn our step-dad) have birthdays about a week apart. I had originally planned to make Wes a mountain biking cake, since we love to ride! Cherry called asking about a cake for Glenn, that is when the hampster started running the wheel!
We decided to tell Glenn we were having a surprise party for Wes, and told Wes just the opposite. What kind of cake do you present for one party where one birthday boy loves Tech and the other loves Georgia?? This is what I came up with. If you look closely, you'll notice the score board has 1 second on the clock at half time and the score is GT 50 and GA 32, thier ages. And the flavor was a surprise too....key lime cake!
I've had mixed reviews, although the entire cake was lime and delicious, some say the GA side tasted better than the Tech side. Guess we will never know the truth about which side tasted better!
Happy Birthday Pop and Wes!!
